Chad and Algeria deepen oil sector cooperation with high-level talks
On June 16, Chadian oil sector regulator ARSAT Director-General Hassan Adoum Younousmi met with Algeria’s State Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, at the ministry’s headquarters in Algiers. The meeting brought together key advisors from both delegations to advance bilateral energy collaboration.
The discussions centered on critical aspects of the downstream oil sector, including regulatory frameworks, energy infrastructure expansion, refining capabilities, storage solutions, and fuel distribution networks. Both sides emphasized the importance of industrial safety protocols, digital transformation initiatives, and transparent governance models to modernize operations.
The high-level engagement follows the April 23, 2026 cooperation protocol signed between ARSAT and Algeria’s hydrocarbon regulator ARH. This agreement formalizes technical and institutional partnerships aimed at knowledge sharing, best practice exchanges, and capacity-building programs to strengthen national oil sectors in both countries.
During the talks, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to deepening fraternal ties and leveraging shared expertise for sustainable development and continental integration. Hassan Adoum Younousmi highlighted ARSAT’s dedication to collaborating with Algerian partners to accelerate the growth of Chad’s downstream petroleum industry while enhancing local technical competencies.
