Chad advances digital education reform with national strategy validation

The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, to validate a comprehensive diagnostic report on the current state of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) digital transformation. The session brought together key stakeholders from across the sector to review, refine, and endorse the findings that will underpin the country’s first-ever National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET.

This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation in TVET, supported by major continental and international bodies including UNESCO, the African Union, and the African Development Bank. The pre-strategy assessment engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers and supporting institutions nationwide, combining on-site evaluations with digital data collection to capture a complete picture of the sector’s readiness for digital modernization.

Key insights and strategic priorities

In his opening address, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, emphasized that digital transformation has become a cornerstone for aligning TVET systems with rapidly evolving technological demands and emerging job markets. He noted that the government views digital tools as essential drivers for modernizing vocational education nationwide.

The diagnostic report highlights significant progress in certain areas while identifying critical gaps in governance frameworks, digital infrastructure, network connectivity, reliable power supply, instructor training, and the integration of digital literacy into curricula. Participants were encouraged to contribute their expertise to shape a pragmatic, inclusive, and contextually relevant strategy that reflects Chad’s unique developmental challenges.

Pathway to a modernized TVET ecosystem

Following the workshop’s conclusion, the validated report will serve as the foundation for developing Chad’s first National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, supported by a detailed action plan spanning 2026 to 2030. The overarching goal is to establish a dynamic, high-performing TVET system capable of equipping learners with the digital and technical competencies demanded by today’s evolving labor market.
