Burkina Faso Dominates U18 and U20 Athletics Championships

The Burkinabé athletes have impressed with their performances in the recent U18 and U20 Athletics Championships of the Five Nations, held on July 25-26, 2026, at Ouagadougou. With a total of 67 medals, Burkina Faso topped the podium ahead of Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo.

Zalissa Zongo was one of the standout athletes, winning nearly six gold medals, including a national record in the triple jump. “I am very happy because I broke my own record,” she said. “I had 13.12, but I made 13.33.”

Zalissa Zongo hopes to reach 14.01 at the Junior World Championships and the Youth Olympics in Dakar.
