Bénin’s infrastructure minister emphasizes road quality and timely project delivery

As part of ongoing efforts to monitor major initiatives aimed at modernizing Bénin’s national road network, Georges Alé, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, conducted an inspection tour last Tuesday across three crucial construction sites. This field visit primarily focused on upholding technical standards, ensuring environmental protection, safeguarding public health, and strictly adhering to contractual timelines.

The ministerial delegation’s first stop was at the Djonou bridge, located within the Abomey-Calavi commune. At this location, the essential dredging operations have been successfully concluded. This vital work has cleared the waterway, significantly improving rainwater drainage and reinforcing the structural integrity of the bridge itself.

Subsequently, the minister proceeded to the construction site for the dual carriageway development of the Missessinto-Allada section (RNIE2), a project being executed by the consortium SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP. While commending the satisfactory progress and dynamic pace of the work, Georges Alé underscored the imperative of scrupulously following the contractual schedule. His aim is to ensure that users benefit from a modern and secure route as swiftly as possible.

The inspection tour concluded at the Allada roundabout and the adjacent water retention basins established in the area. Demonstrating keen attention to sanitation concerns, the minister instructed the technical teams to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health. This partnership is crucial for anticipating and mitigating any potential health risks associated with stagnant water accumulation.
