Bénin’s electoral commission explores AI in Indian training program

Eleven officials from Benin’s Commission Électorale Nationale Autonome (CENA) are currently in New Delhi, India, for an intensive five-day program focused on integrating artificial intelligence into electoral processes. The session, running from July 6 to 10, is being conducted by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) initiative.

What the training covers

This specialized program is designed to equip electoral officials with practical knowledge of AI applications in election administration. Participants will explore topics such as AI-driven voter registration systems, digital governance frameworks, ethical considerations in deploying AI, human rights safeguards, cybersecurity protocols, risk management strategies, and the legal frameworks governing technological innovations in elections.

The curriculum blends theoretical insights with hands-on learning, featuring expert-led lectures, real-world case studies, live demonstrations, interactive workshops, and peer-to-peer knowledge exchanges with electoral officials from multiple countries.
