Diplomacy took center stage on the presidential agenda in Cotonou. The head of state successively received thirteen new diplomatic representatives assigned to serve in the Republic of Bénin. During these individual audiences, each ambassador presented their letters of credence, the official document from their respective nations that formally accredits them to the Béninese president.

This essential protocol step is fundamental in international relations. It formalizes the host state’s recognition of the ambassador, thereby enabling them to fully carry out their mandate of representation, fostering dialogue and cooperation with Béninese officials.

The diverse group of diplomats represents thirteen countries: Mauritania, Thailand, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Vietnam, India, the United Kingdom, Cuba, Algeria, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Chad.

Each ambassador, in turn, was received by Romuald Wadagni to deliver the official instruments from their governments. This series of ceremonies is a standard component of bilateral relations between Bénin and its international partners.

With these presentations of letters of credence, Cotonou officially welcomes new diplomatic interlocutors from various corners of the globe. This also inaugurates a fresh phase of engagement between the Béninese government and these nations, focusing on cooperation initiatives, political dialogue, economic ties, security concerns, and development objectives.
