Yaoundé’s major potable water network reconfiguration project broke ground Thursday in Minkoameyos. The initiative aims to permanently enhance clean water access across multiple neighborhoods in Cameroon’s capital and surrounding areas.

The official groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Minkoameyos town hall esplanade. The event was led by the Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba, alongside Camwater’s Director General, Dr. Blaise Moussa, government officials, diplomatic corps members, local representatives, and civil society leaders.

This presidential initiative seeks to bolster potable water supply for residents of Yaoundé, Soa, Akak, Mfou, Bikok, and Mbankomo—particularly those lacking reliable connections or experiencing frequent service interruptions.

Non-domestic subscribers, including industries, schools, and hospitals, are also set to benefit significantly from the project.

Minister Gaston Eloundou Essomba called for unified collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure smooth field operations. Camwater’s Director General pledged full institutional support to address any challenges and guarantee project success, emphasizing the growing water needs of Yaoundé residents and surrounding communities.
