Un condemns deadly Mali terror attacks as regional threat escalates

The United Nations Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the recent deadly terror attacks that struck multiple regions in Mali, labeling them as heinous and cowardly acts that pose a severe threat to international peace and security.

In an official statement released on Friday, the 15-member body denounced the violent assaults that occurred on April 25 and continued into early May, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries. The Council emphasized that terrorism in any form remains an unacceptable and criminal act, regardless of location, timing, or motivation.

The UN body went further to stress the urgent need to bring those responsible—whether perpetrators, organizers, financiers, or masterminds—to justice. All member states were urged to intensify efforts against terrorism, aligning their actions with the UN Charter and international legal obligations to curb this global menace.

Mali’s ongoing security crisis has drawn international attention as armed groups continue to destabilize the region. The attacks, which targeted civilians and security forces alike, have raised concerns about the spread of extremist violence across West Africa.
