Senegal’s young lions secure friendly victory against Tunisia in can u17 warm-up
As part of their rigorous preparations for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) U17 football tournament, the Senegal U17 squad, affectionately known as the “Lionceaux,” secured a crucial 1-0 friendly victory over Tunisia. The decisive match took place this Thursday at the Stade Municipal de Hammam Lif, with Cheikh Omar Sy netting the solitary goal that separated the two sides.
Following this successful outing, coach Lamine Sané’s young charges are now set to travel to Morocco to continue their intensive training regimen. Their highly anticipated entry into the CAN U17 competition will see them face South Africa in their opening fixture on May 14th at 4:00 PM.
Senegal has been drawn into a challenging Pool D, where they will compete against South Africa, Algeria, and Ghana.
The host nation and reigning champions, Morocco, find themselves in Pool A, alongside Tunisia, Egypt, and Ethiopia.
Pool B features Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Meanwhile, Pool C comprises Mali, Angola, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
