Petrosen denies fuel shortage claims in Senegal with legal action warning
Petroleum Service Company of Senegal (PETROSEN) has categorically dismissed circulating rumors of an impending fuel shortage in the country. The national oil corporation confirmed that fuel supply operations are functioning normally across Senegal, urging the public to disregard misinformation being spread on digital platforms.
Combating misinformation and protecting public trust
In an official statement, PETROSEN emphasized that a counterfeit press release has been circulating online, falsely claiming imminent shortages of gasoline, diesel, and gas. The company clarified it was not the source of this document and stressed that all such claims are entirely unfounded.
Current fuel supply status in Senegal
According to PETROSEN, the national fuel distribution network—including importation, storage, and delivery—remains fully operational. The company works in close coordination with Senegal’s Ministry of Energy, Petroleum, and Mines to ensure uninterrupted supply to consumers nationwide.
Official communication channels
To prevent further confusion, PETROSEN strongly advises the public to verify fuel-related information only through its official channels and those of the Ministry of Energy. The company warned it will take legal action against individuals or entities responsible for spreading false information that could disrupt public order or cause unnecessary panic.
