Direct state financing, channeled through the Ministry of Land and Air Transport under the leadership of Abdoul Ahad Ndiaye, made this major transaction possible. The capital injection mirrors a broader push championed by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to equip Sénégal with aviation assets that mirror its international, tourist, and developmental aspirations.
Technical specifications of the newly acquired jet
Engineered for high versatility across short-haul and medium-haul corridors, the single-aisle Boeing 737 NG series aircraft supplies vital operational bandwidth to the carrier’s scheduled flight operations. The jet features a dual-class cabin configuration capable of carrying 174 travelers:
- Business class: 12 dedicated premium seats.
- Economy class: 162 seats fitted with ergonomic Recaro seating.
From an architectural standpoint, the aircraft extends across a length of 39.5 meters with a wingspan measuring 35.8 meters, supported inside by three galleys and three passenger lavatories to ensure full in-flight comfort.
