Paris security forces reinforce measures for Champions League final

Magistrates and police prepare to handle potential public disorder after PSG vs Arsenal match.

The judicial system is on high alert ahead of the weekend’s showdown. Paris prosecutors have announced they will activate their enhanced emergency response system to address potential large-scale disturbances following the Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal, set to take place Saturday in Budapest.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, up to seven magistrates will be on standby—including specialized units for both adult and juvenile cases. “The juvenile prosecutor’s office has adjusted its procedures in coordination with neighboring jurisdictions,” the statement noted, “to ensure swift action for minors residing outside Paris and to accelerate legal responses.”

The Paris prosecutor emphasized that immediate court hearings will be prioritized starting Saturday, even before major fan gatherings occur. This proactive approach aims to address anticipated violent incidents flagged by law enforcement and security stakeholders. “Judicial investigations can be opened if necessary to extend inquiries beyond standard custody periods,” prosecutors warned, adding that any serious offenses reported—even if arrests weren’t made during the initial response—will be thoroughly investigated for future prosecution.
