Ousmane Sonko urges supporters to abandon insults, focus on ideas

Ousmane Sonko, president of Pastef, has sternly called on his supporters to stop using insults and mocking nicknames directed at authorities. He condemned such behavior as counterproductive and urged them to concentrate solely on debates centered on ideas and the party’s program.

During his speech at the rally held at Dakar Arena, the leader of the Patriots warned his followers against the trap of invectives. He argued that these taunts resemble provocations engineered to generate legal complaints and lead to the jailing of those responsible. Sonko urged the youth and sympathizers of the ruling party to raise the standard of political discourse by staying focused on policy proposals and constructive exchanges of ideas.

Outlining the party’s new strategic direction, the president of the National Assembly directed his troops to focus on ground-level work. He asked them to travel across all regions of the country to expand and sustainably strengthen the party’s base. Finally, emphasizing the institutional future of Pastef, he highlighted the need to reinforce the political and intellectual education of members in order to consolidate the republican foundation of the party.
