Niamey, June 4, 2026 — The Prytanée Militaire de Niamey (PMN) celebrated its most outstanding students during a prestigious awards ceremony on Thursday, marking the close of the 2025-2026 academic year. Under the honorary patronage of Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Salaou Barmou, the event shone a spotlight on the academic achievements of the young cadets who distinguished themselves throughout the school year.

The ceremony honored students who secured first-place rankings across all grade levels, from sixth grade to the final year. Through this initiative, school leaders aimed to uplift merit, perseverance, and discipline—core values embedded in the institution’s educational framework.

The event drew participation from key figures, including members of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), the Vice President of the Council for the Refoundation Advisory Board (CCR), accredited diplomatic and consular representatives in Niger, the Governor of the Niamey region, defense and security officials, as well as parents and distinguished guests.

Outstanding academic achievements highlighted

The awards presented this year underscore the high academic standards maintained at the Prytanée Militaire de Niamey. The top-performing students achieved impressive averages, reflecting both their dedication and the exceptional guidance provided by faculty and leadership.

In the junior cycle, the highest average reached 18.55 out of 20, while in the senior cycle, the leading student earned an average of 17.44 out of 20. These results not only highlight the students’ commitment but also the quality of mentorship and educational support at the institution.

Celebrating merit to shape tomorrow’s leaders

Beyond mere recognition, the ceremony served as a moment of affirmation for the hard work invested by students throughout the academic year. It also serves as motivation for all cadets to continue striving for excellence in academics, civic responsibility, and military readiness.

The Prytanée Militaire de Niamey reaffirmed its mission to cultivate a disciplined, skilled youth deeply rooted in the values of service and national duty—while preparing the next generation of Nigerien leaders. This tradition of excellence remains central to the school’s identity, offering both a reward for past efforts and an inspiration for future generations.
