Morocco-France partnership hits €15 billion in trade, setting new benchmarks

Morocco-France partnership signing

The economic ties between Morocco and France have been hailed as a « leading model » for Africa, a sentiment echoed by Nicolas Forissier, France’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, during his address at the opening of the France-Morocco Economic Day in Paris.

The event, organized by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in France, brought together nearly 300 business leaders, investors, and policymakers. Forissier emphasized the « exceptional » nature of the bilateral relationship, rooted in a shared vision of international trade.

« Our two nations firmly believe that trade serves as a powerful engine for progress and development, particularly for the youth of both countries, » he stated. « When conducted fairly, it fosters mutually beneficial opportunities that uplift entire communities. »

The minister highlighted the robust growth in bilateral trade, which surpassed €15 billion in 2025—a milestone he described as « unprecedented » and nearly double the figure from a decade ago.

This surge underscores France’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Morocco, a relationship built on complementarity. As Morocco accelerates its industrialization, modernization, and economic diversification, France is opening its markets wider to Moroccan products, particularly those labeled « Made in Morocco. »

Forissier also pointed to the thriving French investments in the Kingdom, citing the recent €600 million investment by aerospace giant Safran in a new facility in Casablanca. « This partnership is not one-sided but a true exchange, » he noted. « Morocco is now France’s top African investor, while France remains Morocco’s leading foreign investor. »

Investing in people, building the future

The minister stressed that the partnership’s strength lies not only in economic transactions but also in human capital development. Initiatives in education, skill-building, youth mobility, and vocational training are central to the collaboration. « We must invest in people—the leaders of tomorrow who will sustain this partnership—not just in goods or services, » he asserted.

A shared economic agenda for stability and growth

Looking ahead, Forissier outlined an ambitious and shared economic agenda, anchored in the strengthened partnership framework established during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco in October 2024, at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

« This partnership is built on a foundation of political excellence, » he explained. « In a world grappling with uncertainty, fostering stability and resilient partnerships has never been more critical. These alliances not only secure supply chains but also pave the way for sustainable economic growth. »

The France-Morocco Economic Day serves as a vital platform for businesses on both sides, fostering connections with key institutions such as the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE), the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco (CFCIM), and Business France. Together, they are driving the momentum for deeper economic integration and innovation.
