Following the unprecedented arrival of thousands of migrants from Morocco into Spain’s Ceuta enclave, Moroccan authorities have pledged full cooperation in facilitating the return of unaccompanied minors.
Morocco has taken a decisive stance on the crisis unfolding at Ceuta. Officials in Rabat have confirmed their readiness to assist in the repatriation of unaccompanied minors who entered the Spanish territory from Moroccan territory. However, the process faces significant legal hurdles on the Spanish side, according to a diplomatic source who requested anonymity.
The Moroccan government has reiterated its commitment to identifying and repatriating these minors, emphasizing collaboration with Spanish and European partners to ensure their safe return. «We are prepared to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the swift and humane repatriation of unaccompanied minors to their home country,» the source stated.
Yet, the same source highlighted that these partners must address internal challenges, including legislative and administrative barriers that currently obstruct the operation.
