Mauritanian-moroccan military cooperation highlighted during high-level visit to Nouakchott

The high-ranking military delegation from Morocco, led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, concluded a productive working visit to Mauritania on Tuesday.

During the visit, General Berrid was received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott. The meeting took place alongside Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, as confirmed by an official statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.

Later that day, the Moroccan general visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he held discussions with Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. The minister presented him with the Commander grade of the National Order of Merit on behalf of the Mauritanian President.

Following these engagements, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Military leaders from both nations reviewed the progress of their defense cooperation, highlighting its positive impact and tangible achievements.

The discussions underscored the robust and strategic nature of the military partnership between Morocco and Mauritania, with both sides acknowledging the model status of their collaboration.
