Lucas Chevalier approached by Besiktas as PSG future remains uncertain
Just one year after his move to Paris Saint-Germain, Lucas Chevalier finds himself in a delicate situation. The 24-year-old goalkeeper, who was not selected for the World Cup, could leave the French capital this summer. While the former Lille star awaits a response from PSG’s management, two foreign clubs have recently made inquiries about him. Here’s the latest.

What does the future hold for Lucas Chevalier? Signed for €55 million (including bonuses) last summer, the goalkeeper who came through the LOSC academy endured a difficult debut season at PSG. Dropped down the pecking order by Matvey Safonov, the Calais-born shot-stopper is set for a busy summer regarding his future. Lucas Chevalier, who was left out of Didier Deschamps‘ World Cup squad, is currently on holiday, waiting to learn more about PSG’s intentions for his role at the club.
Besiktas makes a move for Lucas Chevalier
In recent weeks, several clubs have inquired about Lucas Chevalier. Tottenham showed interest, but most recently it is Besiktas that has tested the waters. The Turkish club, currently searching for a high-profile goalkeeper, has decided to position itself for the 24-year-old. However, if a departure happens, Lucas Chevalier is expected to favour a more attractive project.
“To regain confidence, he needs to look elsewhere”
Analyst Laure Boulleau recently stated that leaving would be the best option for Lucas Chevalier this summer: “I take no pleasure in knowing he had a catastrophic, cataclysmic season. He really needs to bounce back. I don’t think he became a bad player overnight. He needs to regain confidence, and to regain confidence, he must look elsewhere. He should go to a place where he can be happy and rediscover the qualities we know he has.”
