JNIM denies reports of deputy leader’s death in Mali airstrike

Mali security update: JNIM leadership dispute claims of senior figure’s demise

Reliable sources within the Support for Islam and Muslims (JNIM) organization have strongly refuted recent claims regarding the alleged death of Sidna Ag Hita, a key lieutenant of Iyad Ag Gali and second-in-command of the group. These reports surfaced shortly after the African Legion announced a military operation in the Diabali area of central Mali.

According to insiders, Ag Hita remains alive and in good health, with no credible evidence supporting the claims of his fatality. The group has not released any statement confirming his death or injury, further casting doubt on the legitimacy of these rumors.

The African Corps had issued a statement on May 27, detailing a nighttime airstrike and rocket attack targeting a JNIM camp in the region. At the time of the operation, intelligence suggested Ag Hita was present at the site, though no confirmation of his fate has been provided since.
