At the Palais du Luxembourg, seat of the French Senate, President Oligui received a formal welcome befitting a visiting head of state. He met with Senate President Gérard Larcher, who commended Libreville’s new leadership for fostering development momentum in Gabon. Larcher also praised the candor of President Oligui’s political discourse, emphasizing alignment on pragmatic cooperation between the two nations. Before these engagements, the Gabonese delegation toured Notre-Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture built between 1163 and 1345. The historic site, renowned for hosting Napoleon’s coronation in 1804, has undergone multiple transformations—most recently its restoration following the 2019 fire, a project witnessed by President Oligui and his wife during the cathedral’s reopening in 2025.
