The President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Abidjan on August 4, 2026, to attend the 66th anniversary celebrations of Côte d’Ivoire’s independence. His visit underscores the deep-rooted cooperation and fraternal ties between Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire.

Warm welcome at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport

Upon his arrival at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, President Oligui Nguema was greeted by Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nialé Kaba, representing the Ivorian authorities. The reception included high-ranking government officials, diplomats, and members of the Gabonese community living in Côte d’Ivoire.

Following diplomatic protocol, President Oligui Nguema was accorded a military salute upon disembarking from his aircraft. Gabon’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Fabrice Boussougou Boussougou, was among the dignitaries present to welcome him, along with numerous Gabonese nationals who turned out to express their support.
