Felix Tshisekedi Vows to Make DRC Africa’s Third Economic Powerhouse by 2035
Kinshasa, February 3, 2026 – DRC Vice-Premier Minister Adolphe Muzito has pledged that the Democratic Republic of Congo will become Africa’s third economic powerhouse by 2035.
The ambitious plan, which was announced during a recent visit to Kinshasa, aims to boost the country’s economy through various initiatives such as infrastructure development and increasing trade with neighboring countries.
Muzito stated that his government is committed to creating an enabling business environment that will attract foreign investment and stimulate economic growth.
The DRC has significant natural resources, including copper, cobalt, and diamonds, which could be harnessed to drive economic growth.
However, the country faces several challenges, including corruption, poor infrastructure, and limited access to finance, which need to be addressed in order to achieve its development goals.
According to Muzito, his government is working to improve the business environment by reducing bureaucracy and increasing transparency.
The DRC has made significant progress in recent years, with economic growth averaging around 6% per annum.
The country is also taking steps to diversify its economy, including investing in agriculture and tourism.
