Digitalizing land freight: BNFT completes key training in Chad
The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has concluded a pivotal training session in N’Djamena aimed at modernizing the country’s land freight sector through digital transformation.
N’Djamena — The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has successfully wrapped up a three-day intensive training program focused on digitalizing land freight services in Chad. Held at the Kempinski Hotel in N’Djamena, the workshop brought together freight controllers and agents from N’Djamena and Mayo-Kebbi, equipping them with cutting-edge digital tools to revolutionize the transport sector.
During the closing ceremony, the steering committee chair, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, praised the participants’ dedication throughout the training. He highlighted several modules covering digital technologies and streamlined freight management, including digital interface navigation, cargo declaration, carrier oversight, system configuration, and agency setup. The organizers emphasized that these innovations will enhance administrative efficiency and improve real-time tracking of freight operations across Chad.
The BNFT President underscored that this initiative aligns with Chad’s broader push to modernize public services and accelerate the country’s digital transformation. He noted that the transition to digital tools is critical for the Obligatory Freight Letter and Axle Tax systems, which now require precise digital tracking to ensure robust monitoring of transport activities. Technical partners TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO were recognized for their pivotal role in delivering expert guidance throughout the program. Participants were urged to apply their newfound skills to drive the modernization of Chad’s land freight sector forward.
e-BNFT platform: a game-changer for freight management
Saleh Youssouf Erda, the General Director of the steering committee, reiterated that the workshop focused on training agents, controllers, and emissaries on the e-BNFT digital platform. He described this initiative as a decisive shift from traditional paper-based processes to a fully digitalized institutional framework. The e-BNFT platform now enables instant issuance and verification of essential documents, including the Obligatory Freight Letter and Axle Tax. It also facilitates seamless, contactless handling of freight documents, accessible via computers or mobile devices.
boosting state revenue and economic planning
Erda also stressed the platform’s role in securing state revenue and generating reliable statistical data for improved national economic governance. He framed this digital transition as part of the broader modernization agenda championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. In his closing remarks, he called on participants to actively use the platform, master its features, and share their knowledge with colleagues to ensure widespread adoption.
The ceremony concluded on a high note, with participants expressing satisfaction and renewed commitment to overcoming the challenges of digitalization in public administration and the land freight sector. The call to action was clear: embrace these digital tools to propel Chad’s transport infrastructure into the future.
