In a message issued in memory of the martyrs Charles Lwanga and his companions, the bishop of Butembo-Beni in eastern DR Congo, Mgr Sikuli Paluku Melchisédech, directly challenged the Congolese authorities over the worsening security and social conditions in his diocese. The bishop stated with regret that there is a disconnect between what politicians focus on and the genuine needs of the Congolese people.
