Bénin’s CENA officials train in India on artificial intelligence for elections
A delegation of senior personnel from Bénin’s National Autonomous Electoral Commission (CENA) is currently participating in an international training program in New Delhi, India. Running from July 6 to 10, 2026, the intensive session focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) within electoral frameworks.

The India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) is hosting this significant event, conducted under the auspices of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program. The primary objective is to enhance the capabilities of electoral administrators regarding the practical applications of AI in orchestrating and overseeing elections.
Throughout the program, participants delve into a diverse range of critical subjects. These include the strategic deployment of artificial intelligence in electoral administration, principles of digital governance, ethical considerations, safeguarding human rights, robust cybersecurity measures, comprehensive risk management, and the legal frameworks governing the integration of these emerging technologies.
The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, incorporating a blend of insightful lectures, detailed case studies, hands-on practical demonstrations, engaging interactive workshops, and valuable experience-sharing sessions. These are facilitated by leading experts and representatives from various electoral bodies across different nations.
For Bénin’s CENA, this training represents a crucial component of its broader strategy to modernize electoral administration. The initiative aims to equip the institution to meet the evolving challenges posed by digital transformation, fostering electoral processes that are more transparent, efficient, and secure through cutting-edge technological innovations.
