Algerian Prime Minister launches official visit to Chad with key energy project
On Monday, the Prime Minister of Algeria, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, set off on an official visit to the Republic of Chad at the direct request of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The trip is part of a broader effort to deepen fraternal ties and strengthen bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors between the two neighboring nations.
The Algerian delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes high-ranking officials such as Mr. Mohamed Arkab, State Minister of Hydrocarbons; Mr. Mourad Adjal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies; and Mr. Abed Hallouz, Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation and Solidarity Development. Additionally, several executives from national companies operating in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity sectors joined the mission.
Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb was welcomed by Chad’s Prime Minister, Mr. Allamaye Halina, alongside a delegation of government officials and senior leaders. Following the official welcome ceremony, the two Prime Ministers engaged in a bilateral working session, reviewing the progress of distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad. They exchanged perspectives on revitalizing and expanding bilateral cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to elevate the partnership to new heights for the mutual benefit of both peoples.
Laying the foundation for a 40 MW solidarity power plant in N’Djamena
As part of this official visit, the Algerian Prime Minister, accompanied by his Chadian counterpart, will preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 40-megawatt power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena. This project, spearheaded by Sonelgaz International, is being implemented as a gift from Algeria to Chad, in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The initiative underscores Algeria’s consistent dedication to supporting sustainable development in African brother nations while reinforcing the values of African solidarity through impactful, transformative projects.
During the visit, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb will also hold consultations with Chad’s President, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, focusing on strategies to enhance the Algerian-Chadian partnership and address key regional and African issues of mutual interest.
The visit marks a significant milestone in the steadily growing and positive trajectory of Algerian-Chadian relations. It highlights the shared determination of both countries’ leadership to advance bilateral cooperation and elevate economic and developmental partnerships to unprecedented levels.
