Algeria and Chad advance infrastructure projects

N’Djamena witnessed a pivotal moment on Thursday as Algeria and Chad formally signed an accord designed to streamline and expedite collaborative infrastructure and public works initiatives.

This freshly inked agreement serves to deepen the strategic partnership between Algeria and Chad, propelling forward the implementation of previous commitments made in April. The Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure confirmed that this move underscores a shared vision for enhanced regional development.

Launching pivotal studies for the Trans-Saharan Road across Chad

The significant pact was formally endorsed by Abdelkader Djellaoui, Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, and Amir Idriss Kourda, Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance. The signing took place during a crucial coordination meeting in N’Djamena, marking the second day of the Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad. Key figures present at the gathering included the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, alongside senior representatives from the Cosider group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP).

On the Chadian side, the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and several high-ranking officials also participated in the discussions. During the meeting, the Chadian minister emphasized the remarkable momentum driving the bilateral agreements, noting a “rapid dynamism” in their execution. He commended the tangible progress achieved on the ground since the initial agreements were signed in Algiers on April 22nd, particularly highlighting the reciprocal technical visits and the official commencement of studies for the ambitious Trans-Saharan Road project through Chadian territory.
