75 inspectors trained to boost Côte d’Ivoire’s digital education revolution
As part of phase 2 of the Digital Skills Development for Supervisory and Teaching Staff (DCNPEE) initiative, 75 educational inspectors from 25 regional directorates in Côte d’Ivoire completed a three-day digital skills workshop in Yamoussoukro from May 4–6, 2026. The training was co-organized by UNESCO and Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Education (MENAET) through its Digital Technologies and Information Systems Directorate (DTSI).
Building a digital-ready education system
This targeted training follows the successful completion of phase 1, which equipped 43 inspectors with foundational digital competencies. The initiative directly supports Côte d’Ivoire’s National Digital Education Strategy (SNDECI 2024–2028), aiming to modernize classrooms across the country.
The three-day workshop focused on empowering inspectors in Mathematics, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT), and Physical Chemistry to integrate digital tools into their daily pedagogical practices. Participants learned to create interactive learning materials, design engaging presentations, and leverage artificial intelligence to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
From training to transformation
Participants praised the relevance and practicality of the modules, recognizing their immediate applicability to today’s educational challenges. UNESCO and DTSI officials emphasized the inspectors’ pivotal role as multipliers of digital transformation, tasked with cascading their new competencies to teachers across all regions of Côte d’Ivoire.
This milestone is a key step in the DCNPEE 2 Phase, funded by GIZ, which is paving the way for a modern, inclusive, and high-performing Ivorian school system. The next major activity will focus on strengthening the digital management capacities of IT administrators.
What’s next for Côte d’Ivoire’s digital education agenda
- Nationwide rollout: Inspectors will return to their regions as ambassadors of digital pedagogy, training teachers and overseeing the integration of new tools.
- AI integration: Modules introduced during the workshop will be expanded to include advanced AI applications for personalized learning and administrative efficiency.
- Monitoring and evaluation: UNESCO and MENAET will track progress to ensure equitable access to digital resources across all districts.
By equipping education leaders with cutting-edge digital skills, Côte d’Ivoire is not only modernizing its classrooms but also empowering a generation of learners to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
