The signing of Morocco’s participation agreement in the International Stabilization Force (ISF) for Gaza marks a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s diplomatic and security strategy. High-ranking officials from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and key government representatives met with Nickolay Mladenov, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, to formalize the Kingdom’s commitment to regional stability.
Strengthening peace efforts in Gaza
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the National Defense Administration, was attended by Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, along with Abdeltif Loudyi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration. Senior military leaders, including the Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, were also present.
The delegation from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF commander discussed operational details of Morocco’s involvement, which will include deploying high-ranking officers from the FAR, Royal Gendarmerie units, and National Security Directorate personnel. Additionally, Morocco will establish a field military hospital as part of its contribution to the stabilization initiative.
A commitment rooted in experience
During the discussions, Moroccan officials highlighted the Kingdom’s extensive experience in UN peacekeeping operations and its long-standing dedication to international peace and security. The participation in the ISF aligns with Morocco’s broader regional integration initiatives championed by His Majesty the King, aimed at enhancing security and social progress.
Representatives from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF commander praised Morocco’s decision, emphasizing its strategic importance in consolidating peace efforts in the region. The agreement signed during the meeting serves as the legal foundation for Morocco’s involvement, outlining technical and operational parameters while reaffirming the shared goal of creating a secure and stable environment in Gaza.
This move underscores Morocco’s role as a key player in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, reinforcing its position as a trusted partner in international peacekeeping missions.
