Morocco and Gambia fortify strategic alliance after key message from President Barrow in Rabat
Diplomatic ties between Morocco and Gambia have entered a new phase of harmony in Rabat. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met Thursday with his Gambian counterpart, Sering Modou Njie, who arrived in the Moroccan capital as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow.
The focal point of the visit was the handover of a letter authored by Gambia’s president and addressed directly to Mohammed VI, underscoring the close communication between the two heads of state.
Gratitude for Morocco’s socioeconomic support
Following the meeting, Gambia’s top diplomat addressed the media to convey his government’s and people’s gratitude to the Alaouite monarch.
Njie praised Morocco’s consistent support for Gambia’s socioeconomic development, noting that this commitment yields tangible results through numerous bilateral agreements and strategic projects already benefiting local populations. These joint initiatives are closely coordinated under the strategic guidance of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
Shared vision for enhanced regional cooperation
During his remarks, the Gambian minister emphasized his country’s determination to further strengthen cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.
He affirmed that current relations are not only excellent but also grounded in strong values of brotherhood, solidarity, and reciprocity, reflecting the shared vision for the future championed by Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow for the well-being of both peoples. This bilateral roadmap for partnership and regional growth aligns with the diplomatic priorities of Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad.
