Marocco vietnam relations celebrated in rabats 65th anniversary

Celebrating 65 Years of Diplomatic Ties Between Morocco and Vietnam in Rabat

Rabat recently hosted a special event marking six and a half decades of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Vietnam. Organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in partnership with the High Commission for Former Resistance Fighters and Army Liberators, the celebration underscored the deep historical bonds and shared values between the two nations.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of an exhibition titled “President Hồ Chí Minh – A Symbol of Peace and International Friendship”. On display until June 26, the exhibition traces the life and legacy of the Vietnamese revolutionary leader, whose vision of peace, independence, and cross-cultural cooperation continues to inspire generations.

The commemorative program also featured a seminar dedicated to exploring avenues for strengthening bilateral ties across diplomacy, economics, academia, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Hồ Chí Minh Memorial Site under Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Strengthening Bilateral Bonds Through Shared Values

In his opening speech, Mustapha El Ktiri, High Commissioner for Former Resistance Fighters and Army Liberators, emphasized the historical significance of Morocco-Vietnam relations. He described the celebration as a testament to the shared struggles and aspirations of both peoples, stating, “This milestone reflects the convergence of two nations whose paths, forged through adversity, are united by a common commitment to freedom and solidarity.”

El Ktiri, who also serves as President of the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association, highlighted a symbolic landmark from 2022: the Vietnam Gate in Kénitra, which mirrors Morocco’s Gate of Bà Vi in Vietnam. These twin monuments, he noted, stand as enduring symbols of the enduring friendship between the two countries, bridging continents and generations.

Economic and Cultural Progress in Focus

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco, Le Kim Quy, celebrated the tangible progress in bilateral relations, pointing to the growing number of high-level exchanges and visits in recent years. She noted that these interactions reflect the mutual trust and shared determination to deepen this strategic partnership.

The economic dimension of the relationship has also flourished, with bilateral trade reaching $390 million in 2025. Beyond commerce, cooperation has expanded into education, cultural exchanges, and decentralized partnerships between local governments in both countries.

Adding to the cultural richness of the event was the inauguration of the Hồ Chí Minh Library, a collection of books in French, English, and Arabic. The library, a donation from Vietnam’s Hồ Chí Minh Memorial Site, was presented to the High Commission for Former Resistance Fighters and Army Liberators.
