Enhanced air cooperation discussed between Morocco and kuwait in Rabat
On Tuesday in Rabat, Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, met with Cheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, to strengthen bilateral air navigation ties.
The meeting took place alongside the 29th session of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization’s General Assembly, hosted in Morocco. Both officials reviewed strategies to bolster aviation safety and security while identifying avenues to deepen bilateral cooperation.
In remarks to local press, Kayouh highlighted the long-standing and robust relationship between Morocco and Kuwait. The discussions also centered on reactivating direct flights between Kuwait City and Casablanca. Royal Air Maroc has committed to reinstating this route promptly, pending the arrival of its new long-haul aircraft fleet.
Cheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah emphasized that the two delegations explored ways to expand air traffic between the two nations, particularly in anticipation of the 2030 FIFA World Cup—co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal. The goal is to accommodate the expected surge in tourist arrivals from the Gulf region and beyond.
The session concluded with the election of new leadership for the Arab Civil Aviation Organization’s governing bodies for 2026–2028, including the General Assembly, Executive Council, and technical committees. Khalid Cherkaoui was also appointed as the organization’s new Director General.
