Diplomatic ties strengthen as Burkina Faso and Italy mark 80 years of Italian republic
The longstanding friendship and cooperation between Burkina Faso and Italy took center stage during a special evening in Ouagadougou celebrating Italy’s 80th Republic Day. The commemorative event, hosted by the Italian Embassy on June 2, 2026, brought together Burkinabè officials, diplomats, and Italian expatriates to honor shared history and strengthen bilateral bonds.
Representing Burkina Faso’s government, Deputy Foreign Minister Bêbgnasgnan Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré attended the gathering, which blended remembrance with warmth, underscoring the deep ties forged over decades between the two nations.

Italian Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Gabriele Di Muzio, highlighted the strength of bilateral cooperation, particularly through initiatives led by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. He emphasized Italy’s ongoing commitment to supporting Burkina Faso in areas such as stability, humanitarian aid, and socioeconomic growth.

« Our mission in Burkina Faso is rooted in a shared vision of progress and mutual respect, » Di Muzio stated. « Supporting the Burkinabè people remains the cornerstone of our diplomatic and development work. »
In her address, Deputy Minister Kabré/Kaboré conveyed the warm congratulations of Burkina Faso’s President and citizens to the Italian community. She praised the resilient partnership built on solidarity, mutual trust, and a joint drive toward sustainable development.

Kabré/Kaboré also spotlighted Burkina Faso’s expanding investment opportunities across key sectors. She urged Italian business leaders to explore partnerships facilitated by the Burkinabè government, aiming to boost economic exchanges and collaboration between the two countries.
