Chad’s president dispatches high-level delegation to Cameroon
On Friday, July 17, 2026, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad, dispatched a significant high-level delegation to Yaoundé. The mission carried a personal message intended for his Cameroonian counterpart, President Paul Biya.
Leading this important diplomatic initiative was Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Chadians Abroad. The delegation also included other key figures: Mahamat Saleh Abdeldjelil, Special Advisor to the Head of State; Fatima Haram Acyl, Minister of Petroleum, Mines, and Geology; and Hassan Adoum Younousmi, Director General of the Telecommunications Sector Regulatory Agency (ARSAT).

With President Biya currently abroad, the Chadian delegation was received at the prestigious Etoudi Palace by Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Minister of State and Secretary General of the Presidency of Cameroon.
While the precise contents of the presidential message were not disclosed, the head of the Chadian delegation affirmed that the initiative underscores the exceptional ties shared by the two heads of state and their respective nations. He emphasized that this diplomatic overture reflects the unwavering commitment of both countries’ highest authorities to further strengthen their cooperation and maintain continuous dialogue on matters of mutual interest, vital for the stability and progress in the region.

Beyond the delivery of the presidential message, discussions delved into future prospects for cooperation across several strategic sectors crucial for both the Chadian and Cameroonian economies. These talks specifically addressed enhancing partnerships in economic development, energy resources, and vital infrastructure projects, all within a broader context of a shared desire to deepen sub-regional integration in West Africa.
This diplomatic endeavor is a continuation of the enduring privileged relationship that N’Djamena and Yaoundé have cultivated over many decades. It powerfully demonstrates both states’ dedication to maintaining a permanent framework for consultation and to solidifying the historical, political, and economic bonds that unite these two neighboring nations.
