Chadian pilgrims receive safety directives for hadj 2026

The Office National pour l’Organisation du Pèlerinage (ORGEP) has issued a critical advisory to Chadian pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj season. The announcement follows a high-level international conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where delegates from Chad were led by General Idriss Dokony Adiker, President of ORGEP.

Key instructions for a secure pilgrimage

The ORGEP’s communication emphasizes strict adherence to regulations set by Saudi authorities to ensure the safety and smooth execution of the pilgrimage. Among the most important directives:

  • Political and religious neutrality: Engaging in political debates or religious partisanship in hotels, Mina, Arafat, or Muzdalifah is strictly forbidden.
  • Unauthorized accommodations: Pilgrims are prohibited from hosting or accommodating individuals not officially registered in pilgrimage accommodations or ritual sites.
  • Heat precautions: With temperatures soaring in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims are advised to avoid outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Long walks between ritual sites are discouraged to prevent physical exhaustion.
  • Assistance for vulnerable pilgrims: Elderly, ill, or physically challenged individuals may appoint a representative to perform the stoning of the pillars (Djamarat) on their behalf.
  • Emergency contact: In case of urgent needs or difficulties, pilgrims should immediately contact the dedicated Saudi hotline: 1966.

Commitment to safety and discipline

Through this advisory, ORGEP urges all Chadian pilgrims to strictly follow these measures. Compliance not only ensures individual safety but also contributes to the overall success of the 2026 Hajj, fostering a respectful and orderly pilgrimage experience.
