Chad strategic plans to boost N’Djamena growth validated
In a significant move toward modernizing urban infrastructure and strengthening municipal governance, key strategic documents for the Agence Municipale des Grands Travaux (AMGT) were officially validated in N’Djamena this week. The milestone event, held at the Radisson Blu hotel, brought together municipal directors, technical experts, city officials, and specialists from the Center for Innovation and Development (CID).
At the heart of the gathering was a powerful address by N’Djamena’s Mayor, Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, who emphasized the pivotal role of the AMGT in shaping the capital’s future. He recounted how the agency’s inception was the result of months of strategic planning and collaboration among council members, designed to address pressing urban challenges.
AMGT: A catalyst for urban transformation
The Mayor underscored that the AMGT was established with a clear mandate: to empower the city to design, fund, and execute large-scale projects that align with public needs and long-term development goals. These efforts aim to foster efficient governance, robust management systems, and sustainable infrastructure for N’Djamena’s growing population.
Highlighting the urgency of the challenges ahead—rapid urbanization, population growth, inadequate sanitation, and climate resilience—the Mayor stressed that the AMGT will serve as the backbone for delivering critical infrastructure and services. He called on participants to engage deeply, sharing insights and constructive feedback to refine the documents under review.
Key documents set to redefine municipal operations
The validation workshop focused on three foundational documents, each designed to streamline operations and ensure accountability:
- Administrative, financial, and accounting management manual: A comprehensive guide to optimize resource allocation, track progress, and measure outcomes effectively.
- Monitoring and evaluation framework: A tool to enhance performance, promote accountability, and embed a culture of measurable results within the agency.
- Environmental, social, and gender management framework: A commitment to integrating sustainability, inclusivity, and equity into every project, ensuring that development aligns with global standards.
Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye concluded by affirming that the success of these initiatives hinges on meticulous organization, transparent governance, and adherence to best practices in management and execution.
