Bénin stands with Niger after Niamey attack
In a display of unwavering solidarity, the government of Bénin has voiced its strong support for the people of Niger following the recent assaults near the Niamey-Diori Hamani International Airport on June 18, 2026.
The authorities in Cotonou released an official statement expressing deep concern over the incident and firmly condemning the attack on a critical civilian infrastructure.
« The Bénin government unequivocally denounces this act of aggression, which targets a vital civilian facility and jeopardizes the safety of local populations, » the communiqué emphasized.
The statement went on to extend heartfelt support to both the people of Niger and the nation’s leadership, including President Abdourahamane Tiani.
