Bénin-Burkina Faso: high-level diplomatic talks in Ouagadougou

On a warm Tuesday afternoon in early June 2026, President Romuald Wadagni of Bénin touched down at Ouagadougou International Airport for a carefully arranged visit aimed at deepening ties with Burkina Faso.

Awaiting him on the tarmac was Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State of Burkina Faso, who personally supervised the arrival protocol. After the national anthems of both nations echoed across the runway, the two leaders inspected a guard of honour, marking the formal start of bilateral discussions.
