Un security council calls for justice after Mali terrorist attacks
From its headquarters in New York, the United Nations Security Council has issued a strong condemnation of the deplorable terrorist attacks that have plagued Mali since April 25. These egregious acts, carried out by jihadist groups linked to Al-Qaeda, demand accountability, and the Council insists that those responsible face justice.
In a statement released on Friday, the Council emphasized the critical need to bring to justice all individuals involved in these violent incidents, including their direct perpetrators, organizers, instigators, and financial backers.
Mali is currently grappling with a climate of profound uncertainty following a series of unprecedented assaults. Occurring on April 25 and 26, these attacks specifically targeted strategic positions held by the ruling junta, which has been in power since 2020. The coordinated offensive against vital urban centers tragically resulted in the death of the nation’s Defense Minister.
