Togo and us strengthen local governance ties through decentralization talks

The deepening of collaboration between Togo and the United States in the realms of local governance, decentralization, and social cohesion was the focal point of discussions between the Minister of Territorial Administration, Local Governance and Traditional Affairs and Kimberly M. McClure, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Togo.

Ms. McClure, received in audience on June 2, engaged in a productive meeting with the minister to explore shared priorities in territorial governance and local development. The dialogue centered on the progress of Togo‘s decentralization process, capacity-building for local authorities, and strategies to enhance social cohesion by involving traditional leaders and community stakeholders.

The minister outlined the country’s administrative structure and highlighted recent reforms aimed at improving public service delivery at the local level, ensuring government services are more accessible to citizens.
