Thierno alassane sall accuses ousmane sonko in Senegal’s aser scandal
The deputy Thierno Alassane Sall has come forward, asserting that a confidential document, dated August 26, 2024, and bearing the signature of former Energy Minister Birame Souleye Diop, unequivocally demonstrates a significant breakdown at the highest echelons of the state. In a statement disseminated across his social media platforms, the leader of the République des Valeurs party declared this “confidential note of August 26, 2024, signed by the then Minister of Energy Birame Souleye Diop, constitutes irrefutable evidence of a state deception.”
Thierno Alassane Sall maintains that the head of government was made aware, at an early stage, of the irregularities concerning the administration of the Senegalese Agency for Rural Electrification (ASER). In his communication, the parliamentarian stated, “Ousmane Sonko’s responsibility is now immense,” further noting that “the document circulating for several days confirms that the Prime Minister was informed, as early as August 2024, of the alleged misappropriation of the startup advance, a portion of which was visibly used to pay SONAC premiums, according to the minister.”
The deputy sharply criticized the government’s response to the warnings issued regarding this matter, prior to the intervention of financial partners and regulatory bodies. In his text, Thierno Alassane Sall posed a critical question: “Not only did Prime Minister Sonko disregard this alert, but he also orchestrated an Omerta by proclaiming ‘zero ASER scandal.’ To shield whom?”
Furthermore, the parliamentarian emphasized that the unauthorized disclosure of this correspondence “reinforces the charge of criminal association, as identified by the Financial Judicial Pool,” asserting that “this affair presents a crucial test for the judiciary and for the ‘Jub Jubal Jubbanti’ commitment widely proclaimed by the executive.”
