Rabat hosts landmark 15th Morocco-France high-level meeting
The Moroccan capital, Rabat, is playing host this Thursday to a pivotal diplomatic gathering—the 15th session of the Morocco-France High-Level Meeting. Co-chaired by Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and his French counterpart Sébastien Lecornu, the event underscores the depth of bilateral ties between the two nations.
Prime Minister Lecornu arrived in Rabat on Wednesday evening, marking his first official visit abroad since assuming office. His presence, alongside a delegation of over a dozen French ministers, reflects the high priority both governments place on strengthening their strategic partnership.
Reinvigorating a historic alliance
This landmark session—marking the first such meeting since 2019—aims to reinvigorate and expand cooperation across multiple sectors. Discussions will focus on advancing shared economic, security, and developmental initiatives, building on the momentum generated by French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco in October 2024.
The gathering is a testament to the exceptional partnership fostered under the leadership of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and President Macron, reinforcing a relationship built on mutual trust and long-term vision.
Key priorities on the agenda
The high-level talks will address several critical areas:
- Economic collaboration: Strengthening trade ties, investment opportunities, and joint infrastructure projects.
- Security cooperation: Enhancing counterterrorism efforts and regional stability initiatives.
- Humanitarian and development projects: Expanding joint programs in education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
- Cultural and educational exchanges: Deepening people-to-people connections through academic and cultural initiatives.
The event serves as a pivotal moment in Morocco-France relations, setting the stage for a new chapter of collaboration and shared progress.
