Niger Celebrates Three Years of CNSP Rule with Mass Populist Rally

Thousands gathered in Niamey to commemorate the third anniversary of the CNSP’s takeover, marking a pivotal moment in Niger’s history.

“On this momentous occasion, Niger and its people have decided to turn the page on history by lending their spontaneous support to CNSP’s actions, which has brought an end to thirteen years of governance that have threatened national unity and put the nation at risk through various forms of repression under a system of imperialist servitude,” said Boubacar Kimba Kollo, a key figure in Niger’s civil society.

For the protesters, this mobilization is also an opportunity to celebrate the achievements recorded since CNSP took power, embracing a new dynamic of politics that Niger has engaged in.

“July 26 represents a day of liberation, a day of hope, and a day that marks the milestones of a new form of governance different from the one we have known for the past three decades,” said Abdoulaye Salifou, a protester.

“Our country has made significant progress, especially in combating Western imperialism and affirming its sovereignty. We encourage the current authorities to stay on track,” added Moussa Moumouni, another protester.

Beyond celebration, attention is now focused on future challenges, with the hope that reforms will continue and the ambitions of the Refoundation will be more concretized.
