The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) executed a comprehensive escort and security operation for civilian vehicles along the Kayes–Sandaré–Diéma–Bamako corridor from June 23 to 29. This strategic move was designed to reinforce safety on one of the country’s most critical transportation arteries.

A first FAMa detachment provided armed escort for 540 civilian trucks traveling from Kayes to Sandaré. Concurrently, a second unit departed from Diéma on June 23 to merge with the convoy, taking responsibility for the 540 trucks plus additional vehicles stranded in Sandaré.

Upon reunification at Diéma, the convoy grew to include all 940 civilian trucks. Under robust FAMa protection, the fleet passed through Sebabougou, Kwala, Diédiéni, Kolokani, and Kati before reaching Bamako without any major security incidents.

This mission underscores the FAMa’s ongoing commitment to securing vital roadways, ensuring the protection of travelers and the uninterrupted flow of goods across Mali.
