Ivory Coast’s spectrum breakthrough: decisive moves to control radio frequencies

Abidjan, September 28, 2026 – A decisive turning point is underway in how Côte d’Ivoire manages its radio frequencies. With momentum building around tighter control and smarter use of the airwaves, the country is set to clarify exactly how these invisible resources are governed, assigned, and protected from interference. The Ivorian Agency for Frequency Management (AIGF) is preparing to unveil its track record and outline an ambitious path forward, marking a major shift in the national approach to spectrum oversight.

These critical issues will take center stage at the “Tout Savoir Sur” (TSS) public briefing on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM. The theme: “The management and control of radio frequencies in Côte d’Ivoire.” Organized by the Government Information and Communication Center (CICG), the press conference will be streamed live on the government’s digital platforms, including Facebook, X, and YouTube. Citizens are encouraged to follow the discussions and submit their questions in real time.

The guest speaker for this edition is Aliou Bamba, Director of National Frequency Management at the AIGF. He will outline the agency’s missions in managing the radio spectrum and the mechanisms deployed to ensure rational, efficient, and secure use of frequencies across the national territory. This presentation signals a breakthrough moment, as the agency moves to assert stronger control and transparency.

Discussions will focus on the procedures for allocating and assigning frequencies, the conditions for spectrum use, and the monitoring and control systems designed to prevent and address jamming and interference.
