Goumbala’s urgent appeal for unity at Sonko’s Cité Keur Gorgui meeting
An unforeseen development unfolded recently in Cité Keur Gorgui, where the political bureau of PASTEF was convened at the residence of its leader, Ousmane Sonko.
As the high-level meeting progressed, with journalists gathered outside, Mamadou Goumbala arrived on the scene, uninvited and unexpected. His sudden presence immediately captured the attention of everyone stationed near the compound.
Addressing the cameras directly, Goumbala articulated a powerful political plea, advocating for the de-escalation of what he perceives as growing tensions between President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko.
He emphasized that any disagreements at the highest echelons of government must not overshadow the pressing expectations of the populace. Goumbala underscored the critical need for leaders to intensely focus on the everyday concerns of the Senegalese people, particularly regarding social and economic advancements.
“Internal discord at the state’s summit must cease. We elected these leaders to alleviate the hardships faced by Senegalese citizens, not for the pursuit of political maneuvering,” Goumbala declared emphatically to the assembled media.
Furthermore, Mamadou Goumbala implored both prominent figures to safeguard their political understanding, asserting that their continued collaboration is indispensable for ensuring the stability and effectiveness of public governance. He reiterated that citizens are primarily looking for tangible results, not internal political confrontations.
In the same vein, he suggested that the observed internal frictions within the ruling majority might necessitate the establishment of broader consultative forums. Such platforms, he argued, could significantly enhance cohesion and strengthen the framework of the current administration.
