Why the French embassy is tightening visa rules

During a press briefing in Yaoundé, Muriel Piquet-Viaux, Advisor for Cooperation and Cultural Action, highlighted a disturbing trend: an escalation in fraudulent documents submitted by Cameroonian visa applicants. The most common irregularities include forged bank statements, falsified identity papers, and incorrect financial proofs. In response, the embassy has intensified verification procedures to scrutinize every document presented.

To qualify for a student visa, Cameroonians accepted into private French institutions must now either pay tuition fees in full upfront or demonstrate possession of the entire required funds before visa issuance. For those who have already paid a deposit, the embassy notes that procedures may vary depending on the institution, but assures that blocked funds will be released immediately upon visa approval.
