Faure gnassingbé fortifies Togo’s northern security operations

On May 7, 2026, Faure Gnassingbé, serving as both the Council President and supreme commander of the armed forces, undertook a critical visit to the Operation Koundjoaré zone in northern Togo. This strategic deployment aimed to evaluate the evolving security situation and provide essential support to the military personnel actively engaged in countering terrorist threats.

During this important mission, the supreme commander of the armed forces participated in an operational briefing held at the Command Post. Following this, he proceeded to the Tchamonga forward operating base, identified as a pivotal strategic location within the comprehensive security framework.

Addressing the soldiers mobilized on the ground, Faure Gnassingbé acknowledged their profound commitment and unwavering resolve in defending the national territory. He also conveyed new directives designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of the deployed units.

This visit underscores the Togolese authorities’ steadfast dedication to maintaining a continuous presence and engagement with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).
