Senegal government questioned by lawmakers in Dakar session
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko faces parliamentary scrutiny in Dakar
Dakar — Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet ministers will appear before legislators today for the quarterly session of Questions to the Government, a constitutional obligation to oversee executive actions as outlined in Article 104 of the National Assembly’s procedural rules.
This afternoon’s session, scheduled for 202 minutes, will feature 14 questions. The majority bloc, Pastef-Les patriotes, holds 10 of these slots, while the opposition Takku Wallu faction and unaffiliated lawmakers each have 2. The event underscores the government’s commitment to transparency in public affairs.
The parliamentary proceedings are chaired by Ismaëla Diallo, First Vice-President of the National Assembly. This marks the fifth such session since the Prime Minister took office, reinforcing the legislature’s oversight role in Senegal’s governance.
