LOSC eyes record-breaking transfer for Ayyoub Bouaddi

Three years ago, Paris Saint-Germain set the benchmark for Ligue 1 with a €90 million sale of Neymar to Al-Hilal, a record that Lille OSC president Olivier Létang now aims to shatter by securing the transfer of rising star Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The Moroccan international has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after talents, with Premier League giants already circling. His stock skyrocketed following his standout performances at the World Cup, placing Lille in a prime position to capitalize on a potential blockbuster deal.

A transfer that could redefine Ligue 1

Lille’s ambitions extend beyond securing a lucrative sale. Olivier Létang envisions Bouaddi’s move as the most expensive departure in Ligue 1 history, a title currently held by Neymar’s €90 million exit. The club’s president has privately compared the midfielder’s potential transfer value to elite Premier League deals, including Elliot Anderson’s €135 million switch from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City and Sandro Tonali’s €120 million move from Newcastle to Tottenham.

Timing remains uncertain

While the transfer window is wide open, Létang has hinted that Lille may retain Bouaddi for at least another season to ensure his continued development. In a recent press conference, he emphasized the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent, stating: “There are very few clubs today that can afford a player of Ayyoub’s caliber at just 18 years old. The question isn’t just about money—it’s about the environment where he can grow. We’ve discussed his future since his return from the World Cup, but nothing is set in stone. My strong belief is that he’ll stay with us for another season. The likelihood is high, and he’s eager to continue his journey here.”

The coming weeks will be decisive, though Lille’s president remains confident in Bouaddi’s long-term commitment to the club.
